RF MFA: Russia steps up trade with Thailand

In January-may 2017 bilateral commodity turnover between Russia and Thailand amounted to 726 million US dollars that on 41% more than the same period in 2016. Our country supplies to Thailand mineral and chemical products, metals and metal products. Thailand mainly imports to Russia equipment and machinery, chemical, agricultural, food products.
An increasing place in economic relations between Russia and Thailand is educational services. Each year the University receives several dozens of citizens of the Kingdom. At the moment in Russia are about two hundred students from Thailand, 100 of whom are receiving education through the state. In the next academic year in the universities of the Russian Federation will do about 34 Thai nationals, whose training will be financed from the Federal budget.
A key article of the Russian-Thai economic relations is tourism. The number of Russian tourists who go to Thailand. Thus, in the first quarter of 2017 in the state of South-East Asia visited by approximately 489 thousand Russians – +44% as compared to January-March 2016. In the near future on the Thai island of Phuket will be opened by the Russian Consulate and Koh Samui will appear honorary Consulate. These measures should contribute to further increasing the tourist flow between Russia and Thailand.
